Hello, I'm Diksha Kalra

The journey so far..

Hello guys! How have you been?

I started this newsletter in July and this is my 11th edition. After 6 months of writing on different topics around freelancing, I wanted to take a moment and talk to you guys one-on-one.

How’s your freelancing journey going? What challenges are you facing?

Write to me by replying to this email. This journey gets lonely sometimes. Talking to the people going through similar experiences helps.

I’ll share mine too.

What is currently happening in my journey?

Tbh, the current phase is my best phase. I started freelancing in June 2024. It has been 1.6 years and nowww, my best phase has arrived. Not because I'm swamped with clients or anything. Just that, recently I started thinking with a builder mindset and I started enjoying the process more because of it.

Currently, I’m working with LinkedIn personal branding clients. Still learning new ways of working in this service. I guess, this is always going to be in the learning phase because a major part of this service depends on the person I’m working with and every human is different. So, the learning never stops.

Apart from this, I’m conducting co-working sessions on outreach for accountability. I’m doing this within the Noice community and it has helped all of us with consistency. I know I would not have done consistent outreach if it weren’t for the co-working.

I’ve also started a private newsletter. It is invite only. There I’m writing the behind the scenes of building, what I’m doing, how I’m doing, what I’m planning next.

The journey so far..

Ah, this is a hard one. You know when I started this journey, I was full of energy. I documented my journey on LinkedIn. It was fun and it worked for me. Now, where I’m, I’m full of energy, in the mood to experiment and see how it works out.

And I’m realising that both the times are my peak of freelancing. Seems like this is the constant pattern. If I stay in a high energy zone, which means I work on the business development side of it, then it becomes fun for me and also I see most results in this zone.

Other than that, what this journey has taught me so far is that the low days don’t define me and the high days don’t define me either. It is a journey for a reason and it is better to look at it within a period or duration rather than in moments.

What’s next then?

What’s next for me is niching down. I’ve done it to some extent but yet to settle there with more fulfillment.

Digital products. I’ve started providing consulting to freelancers. I’m writing an e-book. I don’t know yet what will be next but somewhere along the lines of digital products.

More getting my hands dirty with client work. Making more mistakes, learning from it, getting more comfortable and confident at it. To be grounded with my limited knowledge. To be challenged. To grow eventually!

This is it for today’s edition. I’m thinking of making it a monthly thing, one personal newsletter per month, what say?

Hope you liked reading it. I would love to hear back from you. Let’s make the journey less lonely.

Until then, get inspired and keep on moving forward with Charaiveti.

Best Regards,
Diksha (LinkedIn)
